On a cold March 2, 2023, the Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood was pleased to donate $2,000 to the Durham Ukrainian Relief Project, to assist the Project volunteers who are helping 2,000 Ukrainians settle within Durham Region, it was announced today by Linda Porritt, Vice-President of the Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood.

Their needs are growing every day. The volunteers in the Durham Ukrainian Relief Project try their best to raise more funds in order to help those that need it the most, by providing wellness opportunities through their food bank and many programs to serve children, individuals and families who experience financial and social challenges.
The Durham Ukrainian Relief Project created numerous teams to provide services and assistance to displaced Ukrainians in the following areas: immigration, legal aid, support for dealing with government programs, transportation, accommodation, financial Aid, Health care, translation, education, employment help, food and clothing, among others.
To support this noble cause, the Durham Ukrainian Relief Fund has been created. To date, thanks to generous donations and support, the Durham Ukrainian Relief Project volunteers have collected $115,000 of which $25,000 has already been distributed to Ukrainian newcomers for their immediate needs such as food, shelter, medical exams, etc.
