David Andrews, three time President of the Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood was named the City of Oshawa - Municipal Government's 2023 Senior of the Year, at the Oshawa Senior Community Centres' (OSCC55+) Anniversary Gala, on June 8, 2023, at the Jubilee Pavilion attended by 180 guests.... .

The ceremony took place as part of the 55th anniversary gala of the Oshawa Senior Community Centres Gala Celebration, headed by Sylvia Rhodes, Sandra Black, and Liesa Davie of the Oshawa Senior Community Centres .

City of Oshawa Councillor John Gray read out a proclamation from the City of Oshawa proclaiming June as Senior's Month in Oshawa .

He then presented David Andrews with the Oshawa Senior of the Year award from the Province of Ontario, signed by Raymond Cho, Minister of Seniors & Accessibility, Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dodswell and City of Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter.

David Andrews thanked The Oshawa Senior Community Centres and also Oshawa-Parkwood Rotarian Janice Coupland for making tonight possible. He also thanked Oshawa MPP Jennifer French for her kind words and thanked Oshawa Councilor Jim Lee for attending the gala.

Mr Andrews also received a phone call from Oshawa MP Dr Colin Carrie from Ottawa congratulating him on his award and wished he could be there at the Gala.

David also thanked the 24 members of the Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood for being at the event.

David highlighted many of the service projects that the Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood supports in Oshawa and around the world including those associated with Lakeridge Health Foundation, Durham College, Feed the Need in Durham, Simcoe Hall, the Kids Safety Village of Durham Region, Waverly Public School , and the annual World Polio Day LIVE Broadcast, from the Rotary Global Classroom and Rotary's efforts to eradicate polio.
