HAPPY BUCKS

·         Past District Governor Ted Morrison  was very pleased about the District Conference, even though he and Sharron were very busy as Aides Rotary International President’s Repersentative Mike and Sherry McCullough.  The 2013iden Hilda Finnigan was sorry to miss the conference but she had a wonderful time with her grad classmates at their 50th year celebration.  Next year, there’s no conflict of dates so she can attend both: her grad get-together and the 2013 Rotary District Conference (which is especially good because it’s Al’s year as President.)

·         Past President Devon Biddle says that the conference organizers followed Past District Governor Ted Morrison’s Conference Committee “roadmap” and that’s why it was good!

·         Adrian Betts shared a happy story of a woman who has been part of recovery programs through AIDS Durham…she married and gave birth to a healthy, HIV negative baby girl.

·         Director Robbie Larocque is happy about the weather in Oakville.

·         Past President Dave Andrews also enjoyed the conference; there were 24 break-out sessions, a great documentary and the good news that we can apply for Rotary Foundation Grant money to use in our own community.

·         Past President Lennis Trotter complimented Zain Shaik the actor from Little Mosque On The Prairie .

·         Past President Bob Koski loves the great weather!

·         Vice President Al Finnigan enjoyed the conference, especially the fellowship.  He really liked it that Dave A. won the 50/50 money and shared by purchasing wine and beer.

·         Past President Dave Andrews  shared that there are lots of pictures from the conference on  Facebook …be sure to “check them out”!

GUEST SPEAKER  :

Name of Speaker: Janice Leschinsky

 Janice shared about her plan to conduct a “pilot project” concerning INR tests for those taking anticoagulant medications.  Janice explained the many advantages of the use of an electronic sensor to test the blood.  Janice is asking for sponsors and volunteers for this project.

Eamonn thanked our speaker; meeting adjourned at 8:05 pm

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

The “ideal of service” is the key. It is an attitude that does not change from one version to the next. It is an attitude we all have, as Rotarians.

IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT, MAKE UP : Pat Dyck, our Club Secretary has a Rotary International Directory of all Rotary Clubs in the world, when and where they meet. Please mail or fax your make-ups to Pat Dyck, or give your make-up card to the attendance/registration officer at the next club meeting.
