Sue called on Ken Hurst to introduce our guest speaker, Carol Dahlquist from Windreach Farm. Ken who is himself, a member of the Board for Windreach spoke of Carol’s enthusiasm for Windreach Farm and its’ impact on the lives of the challenged individuals who attend there. Carol joined Windreach as Executive Director of Fundraising in 2014. Carol began by thanking Rotary for support given to community charities. Since 1989 Windreach Farm has provided programs for all ages and types of challenges. This starts with understanding the challenges of disabilities. Offering a variety of programs they strive to “inspire, improve and change lives”. Programs include Therapeutic Riding, Horticulture, Community Participation and Skills to name a few. Beyond the Farm Gate is a program which brings small animals to the people – hospitals, schools, shelters, seniors homes, etc. There is a Day Visitors Program as well as Overnight Accommodation Program offering accessible showers, lifts if required. As with most things, COVID has had a negative impact causing a need for reduced capacity, no summer camps, reduced revenue and less programs offered. Most of the participants or programs are not adaptable to virtual presentation. How Can We Help?? Volunteer/Support/Promote Pres. Sue thanked Carol for her presentation.
