ANNOUNCEMENTS

Alan Nason – Foundation Walk – October 6 in Newmarket.

Jodie Hewett – Mandarin Nite at the Armories, Tuesday Oct 8.  She also provided an update on the Mary Street School start of school year student supplies – courtesy  of our club.

Al Finnigan – Rib Fest was a lot of hard work, but was worth it as we had a net profit of some $3,100.

He and Hilda will be celebrating 10th Anniversary this week.

Ted Morrison outlined a potential $5K fundraiser for our club in the selling of Poinsettias to local businesses this Christmas Season.  He noted that this idea was provided by Bill Patchett and the funds would be used to support our club and Polio Eradication.  Ted cautioned that this could very well conflict with our selling of Class Act Dinner Theatre tickets and our sales of Christmas Cakes and Hams.  Some of the club members commented that these Poinsettia Sales have been done by local church groups to our local merchants.  No positive consensus resolution at this time.

Class Act Fundraiser – Bob Koski announced that 129 tickets have been distributed to members.

Rotoract Dinner – Devon mentioned that our club has reserved two tables and only have three seats remaining to be filled.

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

The “ideal of service” is the key. It is an attitude that does not change from one version to the next. It is an attitude we all have, as Rotarians.

IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT, MAKE UP : Pat Dyck, our Club Secretary has a Rotary International Directory of all Rotary Clubs in the world, when and where they meet. Please mail or fax your make-ups to Pat Dyck, or give your make-up card to the attendance/registration officer at the next club meeting.
