GUEST SPEAKER  :   Ted Morrison

Ted spoke on Historical significance of Rotary’s Association with the United Nations and World Health Organizations and gave us a comprehensive updated report on the status on the United Nations Millennium Goals and where the world stands, as it gets closer to the 2015 target date. In short, many targets have been met or are in reach. For more information on those goals, be sure to go to  http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/pdf/report-2013/mdg-report2013_pr_global-english.pdf

The UN Millennium goals so closely resemble the Rotary Foundation’s 6 Areas of Focus. And if it were not for Rotary, the UN Millennium Goals may not be as far along as they are . Thanks Rotarians.

********************

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

The “ideal of service” is the key. It is an attitude that does not change from one version to the next. It is an attitude we all have, as Rotarians.

IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT, MAKE UP : Pat Dyck, our Club Secretary has a Rotary International Directory of all Rotary Clubs in the world, when and where they meet. Please mail or fax your make-ups to Pat Dyck, or give your make-up card to the attendance/registration officer at the next club meeting.
