ROTARY MOMENT  - Larry Hurren

Larry found cassette tapes and one was a recording of a Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood Bulletin, narrated by Rod Ross from the September 19, 1983 meeting. It was really well done – cassette was very clear for its age  – approximately 15 minutes long

Cakes & Hams were being sold at that time for Cakes $9.00 and $10.50 and Hams = $25.00

SPECIAL CHEQUE PRESENTATION  - Al Finnigan/Devon Biddle

On behalf of the Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood, a cheque for $1,000 was presented to Rotoractors Hayley McNamara and Ryan Reid to thank them for their wonderful assistance again at Ribfest this year.

Hayley advised that part of the funds would be going to purchase a camera for the winner of the International Rotoractors Photo contest.

Eman Attalla thanked them for their hard work and commitment to being Rotoractors

***********************************************

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

The “ideal of service” is the key. It is an attitude that does not change from one version to the next. It is an attitude we all have, as Rotarians.

IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT, MAKE UP : Pat Dyck, our Club Secretary has a Rotary International Directory of all Rotary Clubs in the world, when and where they meet. Please mail or fax your make-ups to Pat Dyck, or give your make-up card to the attendance/registration officer at the next club meeting.
