GUEST SPEAKER  :

Name of Speaker: Randy Gill and Sean Lockhart

Introduced By: Hilda Finnigan

Thanked By: Larry Hurren

Speaker’s Remarks: www.theiroppportunity.com is a pay it forward kids in financial needs support program for Sports. They have been established for 5 years now and their head office is Oshawa. We heard a great presentation of some testimonies and how they administer their program. They have 628 kids sponsored in various sports and their uniqueness is they have a commitment from each sponsored child to pay it forward and they must do a community service. 33% of kids today cannot afford to do sports. Their Opportunity program allows the kids to keep busy and out of possible trouble. They learn the valuable lesson of helping others.

The testimonies took my breath away. Their budget comes from fund raising from individuals, corporations and service clubs like us to support kids locally.  Any money raised stay in the community that is received in. WOW great job Randy and Sean.

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

The “ideal of service” is the key. It is an attitude that does not change from one version to the next. It is an attitude we all have, as Rotarians.

IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT, MAKE UP : Pat Dyck, our Club Secretary has a Rotary International Directory of all Rotary Clubs in the world, when and where they meet. Please mail or fax your make-ups to Pat Dyck, or give your make-up card to the attendance/registration officer at the next club meeting.
