ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Andy stated that we raised $2,267.50 selling cakes and hams.
Lennis noted that Monday January 12 at 7 pm will be the next meeting of the Safety Village Restoration Project.
Robbie - letters of thanks have been received for: Crime Stoppers, Operation Eyesight & Trillium Gift of Life;
thanked The Oshawa Express (in absentia) for their excellent December article on Oshawa-Parkwood Rotary;
and reminded us of the Port Hope Concert and Dinner Fundraiser – Sunday Jan 18. Cost: $65 ea.
Ted added that half of the proceeds go to Polio Plus and the other half to the orchestra.
Marianna Herczeg – Inducted into The Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood by Lennis, Ted and Robbie.

Marianna – her business donated $325 to Alzheimer Research
Larry – guest speakers from YMCA
Bob – Recognized Andy’s fundraising efforts, Cdn. Jr. Hockey Team Gold Medalists.
Ted – Happy Marianna is joining our club, Cdn.Jrs. and Sharron has recovered from the flu.
Kris – enjoyed the Xmas holidays and happy that Marianna is with us.
Robbie – happy about kid’s hockey
Alan – Toasted the club: May you live as long as you want to and Want to as long as you live.
Robbie requested and received unanimous endorsement for a potential fundraiser this fall utilizing Food Trucks and possibly the UOIT/DC facilities. We are planning this event and it will require our club’s total support.
Guest Speakers:
Larry introduced our guest speakers from the YMCA: Paul Skuza and Rick McCutcheon.
Paul is a Sr. Program Director and Rick is an Advisory Coach. They shared their Apple presentation material with us.
The YMCA is over 100 years old, strives to engage youth with health, fitness and motivational leadership. They are the largest licensed child care centre providers in Canada, have over 7,000 volunteers, over 1,600 teens attended Friday teen nite’s 7-10 pm and 27% of members are provided reduced fees.
They support: Mary Street Public School with an annual Pancake Breakfast along with Christmas gifts; local fundraisers by providing volunteers; our annual Reverse Draw with gift cards and memberships for our silent auction. Last year they raised $250,000.
