ROTARY MOMENT   waived in favour of putting lesson

GUEST SPEAKER  :  Our guest speaker Peter Butler was introduced by Past Pres Dave Andrews.
     Since this was the “Annual Golf Night At Rotary”, Past Pres Dave also took this opportunity to promote the Oshawa Golf Club relating the types of membership available as well as the privileges these memberships would provide.
     Peter Butler, Head Professional at The Oshawa Golf and Curling Club, spoke briefly about how technology has changed the game of golf over the years, the fact that equipment for putting has not changed dramatically but there are some changes in recent times (belly putters and taller ones too).
     Golfers in the group then moved to the putting green and enjoyed the evening weather and some one-on-one instruction and practice under Peter’s direction.

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

The “ideal of service” is the key. It is an attitude that does not change from one version to the next. It is an attitude we all have, as Rotarians.

IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT, MAKE UP : Pat Dyck, our Club Secretary has a Rotary International Directory of all Rotary Clubs in the world, when and where they meet. Please mail or fax your make-ups to Pat Dyck, or give your make-up card to the attendance/registration officer at the next club meeting.
